Music Therapy
As a Certified Music Therapy Practitioner (member British Association of Music Therapists; BAMT) Glen works with children with a wide range of special learning needs. These children and young adults can be a-typical or diagnosed within the Autism Spectrum, most commonly ADD/ADHD.
Glen's approach to music therapy is to leverage leading musical pedagogical techniques combined with music therapy techniques to introduce students to music and assist them with their specific needs. This is a private (individual) and entirely dynamic program tailored to the specific interests, strengths and needs of each student. |
The ongoing goal is to give the student something of value through music that they can use on a daily basis to balance themselves, develop self confidence, enforce self learning, explore expressiveness and creativity, and overcome learning and social challenges.
The long term goal goes beyond "music as a psychological tool" but to also ensure that the student has not only the "daily musical tools" as supportive tools in daily life, but to properly learn music (i.e. playing the piano or other instrument) which is of life-long value - connecting them to society, enhancing their identity, and giving them an "escape" from the "daily life" where they can achieve a high degree of satisfaction, relief, self expression, and enjoyment.
